With a bit of productive procrastination from revision I've created a new website for EWB Cardiff!
We're going to keep it up to date with a record of all the events we do and all the upcoming events as well! Allot neater then the old website and hopefully with some better laid out information.
Take a peak, especially as we have a bit of literary genius telling us about the EWB CAT trip written by Stephen House, our poetry writing Communications officer!

Creating a direct link to a PDF stored in Google Docs
I use Google Docs to store allot of my files online, pretty much because I love Google, without their services like Google calender sending reminders to my phone I wouldn't turn up to half the things I'm meant to do! Plus they are cheap for storage space to back up all my photo's and documents for work etc.
Any ways recently I had a bit of trouble trying to create a direct link to a PDF I had uploaded to Google Docs and thought I would share how I finally managed to do it here!!
Some times a Direct link is better then the viewer one it gives you because Google viewer, although good, can mess up PDF's every now and then which was the case with the one I was trying to share.
After searching for a solution to get a direct link I couldn't find one that worked so I managed to do a bit of trickery and figure it out for myself. So heres me giving back and sharing my gained knowledge!

First post
Hi There,
My name is Jon Parton and I'm a Student civil engineer being sponsored by Laing O'Rourke (Lucky me!!).
I'm setting up this blog just as somewhere I can write about some of the great things I have the privilege of experiencing, helping to organise or things I'm just generally fascinated by. Some where indeed to just send things out to the void via!
Talking of things I help to organise - Have a peak at that slideshow to the right of one of the great things we ran as EWB Cardiff (EWB Stands for Engineers Without Borders, if you've never heard of them take a wonder..EWB UK ) with the help of RedR. It was a course on Humanitarian aid, the realities of it and a bit of an explanation as to the complexities too! Was a brilliant hands on weekend with allot of good active stuff! Worth a butchers at the last day pictured in those photo's when we did a simulated scenario based on the Pakistan earthquake!
Right let's see how active I can be with this or if this will be the first of very few posts........ Wish me luck!
